Oh Laurie, you're so sweet.
Because you're so wonderful, I'm going to add a rock to your package when I take it to the post office. (TOMORROW!!)

A rick?
Yes, a Rock.
Ok, you're scratching your head and I'm snickering. You'll love the rock, wait and see.

Hayward, Ashland, Apostle Island, Copper falls, (sigh) I MISS IT!!!!!! The Rep I worked for in Madison lived in Ashland so we went up there a lot for vacations, etc. I miss the Native American Elders that I got to know SO much! Totally cool people!

Well howdy-ho. I grew up in Ashland, spent a lot of time up in Bayfield and around the Apostle Islands, went hiking at Copper Falls, and occasionally went down to Hayward for lumberjack stuff, school music & drama club contests, marching in parades, Wilderness Walk where the goats always stole the dried corn I was trying to feed to the deer, Al Capone's Hideaway...

You know what's intriguing? We probably know some of the same people.

Wait. Dan Theno?

Barb Linton?
Martin Hanson?

Hm, I know Barb's name from the area but never knew her personally. Martin Hanson? Uh, you got me.

Dan Theno's wife was my piano teacher and she was uber-involved in the local theatre group that my mom helped to revive in the late 70's.

Still, that's really neat that here we are, about 1700 miles away from each other and we have this in common. (I'm thrilled we have Bayfield and the Apostle Islands in common! That place is heaven to me.)
